There are a lot of great fighters in MMA today but there are always some that manage to stand out and seem on whole different level than the rest. Today I will share with you the 5 most skilled MMA fighters ever seen in history based on accomplishments, dominance and personal opinion.
5. Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza
Jacare is not the obvious choice to this list but I believe he absolutely deserves a spot. He possesses some of the best jiu-jitsu skills displayed by an MMA fighter ever and his stand up game is phenomenal.
In 2010 Souza Fought Tim Kennedy and won. Thereby earning the vacant middleweight belt in the organization Strikeforce. For the fifth place on this list, I could have chosen between probably 20 different fighters. But Jacare is somewhat of a personal favourite and that’s basically the reason I choose him.
4. Fedor Emelianenko
Fedor was a dominant force while fighting for the organization PRIDE and went over 10 years undefeated.
His fighting style comes from Sambo, which is a Russian Martial art developed for the military utilizing both grappling and stand-up techniques. Which probably is one of the reasons he’s so well rounded. Considered as the “GOAT” by a lot of people, Fedor is a must on this list.
3. Most Skilled MMA Fighters – Demetrious Johnson
Former flyweight champion in the UFC, Demetrious Johnson is a perfect example of the ultimate Martial artist. He can execute moves with such precision and speed it’s ridiculous. And his fighting IQ is razor-sharp.
While holding the flyweight belt between 2012-2018 he successfully defended the title 11 times. Which is the most consecutive title defences in UFC history.
2. Georges St Pierre
Being my all-time favourite fighter Georges St Pierre is a must when I put together a list of the top 5 most skilled MMA fighters. Coming from a background of karate he was mainly a stand-up fighter in the beginning.
But over time that changed and he developed crazy jiu-jitsu skills and probably the best wrestling ever seen in MMA. His resume inside the cage is unmatched and his only 2 losses were later avenged.

1. Most Skilled MMA Fighters – Jon Jones
Last but not least I have Jon Jones. Despite doping accusations and other controversies there is no questioning his technique and fight IQ. He doesn’t really possess any weaknesses and he never does anything in panic. Always calculated and precise which put him at number 1 on my list.
